| The door swung open, and in
the children came. They had been in town for the Thanksgiving games. Rach gave the leash a little bit of a tug, To bring the third in close and very, very snug. The three of them in line, Ryan, Rach and Fred The children then looked at Gram-ma and said. "Gram-ma, oh Gram-ma; we've found a pet!" "We've picked him out. The best one yet." "We have a leash and will see to his needs." "We'll be so good at it, please, Oh Please!" She looked at their faces so proud they stood. Asking to keep this bird, a pet, if they could. She couldn't say no, though gave it a thought Then said; "Yes, you can give it a shot." Turning she sighed and shook her head. I guess this year's feast will be ham instead. -- Aine 2003 |
