Boo!

Late one night I could not sleep.
Walked a while in the cool night's breeze.
Happened upon a scary tree,
Who bent down and said Boo! to me.

Taken aback I could not speak
Managed a small but quick little squeak
Shaken, quaking in my boots
Managed to take a closer look

Tall and gnarly there he stood
Courage I mustered all I could
Light from the lantern cast its light
A face which was hardly a fright

There it stood this scary sight
Grinning it was there in the night
Towering above in the darken sky
Waiting only for one reply

Managed a resounded 'Boo' in sass
He shifted his arms so I might pass
'Boo', a form of saying hi
As we would say, as we pass by -- Aine 2008
